Anti-Infective Care

Anti-infectives are those agents that fight against infection.  They include those medications that fall into classes like antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and others.  Anti-infectives are actually a relatively new discovery.  Prior to the discovery of Sulfanomide in 1932 and Penicillin in 1941,  infections were treated with such things as mercury and arsenic.

Health Dimensions Clinical Pharmacy works with prescribing physicians to create anti-infectives that not only bring together the correct dosage and combination of medications but also provide these medications in forms that are not necessarily available commercially and a form that can make the application or taking of the medications more successful.

Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune disorders are when the body’s immune system gets off track, and begins to attack healthy cells.  Diseases that are considered autoimmune disorders include Celiac Disease, Lupus, and Rheumatoid Arthritis just to name a few.  These diseases can be debilitating, long-term, and hard to treat.

A specialized, targeted treatment plan for autoimmune disorders is what the pharmacists at Health Dimensions Clinical Pharmacy are trained to create.  With a variety of medications, including such items as Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), Health Dimensions works as part of a patient’s healthcare team to provide the best possible outcomes.

Long COVID Care

Those who have experienced COVID-19 during the years of the pandemic have been dealing with a wide range of symptoms, and a growing number of medications that will treat or lessen symptoms.   As time continues to pass, world health officials have been working on the sustained symptoms that many are experiencing, months after the virus hit them.  This has been referred to as Long COVID and is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as COVID-like symptoms that persist two to eight months after contracting the virus.

While research into cause and treatments continue, Long COVID acts as an immune disorder, attacking the body in a variety of areas.  The pharmacists at Health Dimensions Clinical pharmacy are working with patients and their doctors to design individualized treatments including supplements, nutrients, and medications that have the opportunity to help patients deal with the symptoms of Long Covid.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Naltrexone is a drug that has been around for some time.  Its original “on-label” use was to treat opiate drug addictions or even alcohol abuse.   Recently, it was discovered that low doses of the drug could successfully treat immune disorders.

In this case, “low dose” really means a very small dose.  In its initial use for opioid overdose, Naltrexone was administered in a 50 mg tablet.   As a treatment of auto immune disorders, LDN is given to patients at 1/100 to 1/10 that dosage, usually at bedtime.

The pharmacists at Health Dimensions Clinical Pharmacy, working with prescribing physicians provide LDN in different, innovative forms that can help patients use this novel treatment.  That includes sprays, drops, and other forms of delivery.

Wound Care

Wound care is an important part of healing when the illness or injury impacts the skin.  Wounds can take time to heal and without proper treatment, can lead  chronic health issues that can impact other organs in the body and even endanger the life of the patient.   Chronic wounds that need to be cleaned and dressed on a regular basis face additional issues that can be exacerbated by the wrong wound care.

Health Dimensions Clinical pharmacy works with the prescribing physician to provide treatments that are specialized for the patient, and the injury, in a form that is in proper response to the patient’s needs and the severity of the wound.  For example, the choice of cream, ointment or gel can have a significant impact on healing.  Health Dimensions can also provide treatments using supplements and nutrients that can help with wound and scar healing. Including green tea extract.
